Dear Sir,
I have now heard from the Hongkong War Charities
Committee in reply to the telegrams which I sent to them
last week, as explained at Friday's meeting.
In the first telegram which I sent I said that
negotiations for the lease of Stratford Place were delayed
owing to doubt as to the lessor's right to sub-lst the
furniture and that I saw no prospect of the Extension start
ing there before January. To this the War Charities
Committee replied that they considered the delay and genera
position unsatisfactory and suggesting, as an alternative
to the proposed yearly contribution of £10,000, involving
the Extension scheme, a monthly subscription of £200 to
the parent Hospital for the duration of the war.
In case Friday's Resolution to take No 82 Eaton
Square has not yet been acted upon, I feel I ought to let
